Qatar election of the advisory body has been repeatedly delayed. The election was originally set for 2007.
“We are taking an important step for consolidating traditions of Qatari Shura to develop the legislative process with wider participation from citizens,” Tamim told the Shura Council.
In the election, set for next October, voters will elect 30 members of the 45-strong council. The emir will appoint 15 others. All of them were previously appointed by the emir.
