A significant milestone in the growing economic partnership between Pakistan and the Czech Republic was reached during the Inaugural session of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation.

This first session, held in Islamabad, explored collaboration opportunities in energy, mining, and technology sectors, with both countries aiming to enhance their bilateral trade and investment opportunities.

In an exclusive discussion with Political Uprise News, Miluše Trefancová, the spokesperson for the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Press Department, provided key insights into the successful discussions. The meeting, which included Ali Pervaiz Malik, Federal Minister for Petroleum of Pakistan, focused on advancing cooperation in the energy and mining sectors. This meeting marked the beginning of a more structured and strategic bilateral relationship between the two nations.

According to Trefancová, the mission’s primary goal was to establish contacts, define the strategic directions for future cooperation, and open doors for Czech companies to explore business opportunities in Pakistan.

She emphasized that mining and energy are among the most promising sectors for collaboration. Both countries are keen to develop clean energy solutions, promote sustainable energy technologies, and enhance mining capabilities through technology transfer and joint ventures.

“We consider this mission a success as it has allowed us to open doors for the Czech private sector in Pakistan’s mining and energy sectors. It has laid the groundwork for more focused discussions to identify the specific technologies that Pakistan needs, and which Czech companies are well-placed to provide,” said Trefancová.

The discussions highlighted several key areas where Czech technology could support Pakistan’s energy transition, including carbon capture, clean coal technologies, and renewable energy solutions. The focus is on helping Pakistan modernize its energy infrastructure, enhance energy efficiency, and reduce its carbon footprint, which aligns with the Czech Republic’s long-term sustainability goals.
