Pakistan and Denmark are on the verge of strengthening their economic partnership, with a focus on sustainable development, trade, and investment.
Key initiatives such as maritime cooperation, agricultural modernization, and the promotion of green technologies are set to transform bilateral relations.
In an exclusive discussion with Political Uprise News, a representative from the Embassy of Denmark highlighted the exciting developments taking place. One of the most notable projects is the development of a green deep-water container terminal in Karachi, under the Pakistan-Denmark Government-to-Government (G2G) Framework.
While the full details of this initiative are still pending, it is expected to significantly enhance maritime cooperation and trade, aligning with Denmark’s global leadership in green technologies and sustainability.

In addition to maritime cooperation, Denmark’s role in agricultural modernization is a key area of focus. Denmark’s advanced agricultural technology is already making a considerable impact in Pakistan. Last year, a Danish Food and Agri Business Delegation visited Pakistan, bringing together five leading Danish companies. These companies engaged with Pakistani businesses in key sectors such as poultry, dairy, animal health, and feed production.
This collaboration through technology transfer and partnerships is poised to modernize Pakistan’s agricultural sector, boosting productivity and sustainability.
Denmark is also gearing up to leverage the EU Business Forum in Islamabad, scheduled for May 14-15, 2025, to further foster collaboration in green energy, technology, and infrastructure.

The Danish Embassy is finalizing its participation, with plans to showcase Danish expertise that will open new avenues for business opportunities and investments. The forum is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening the economic relationship between the two nations.
Bilateral trade between Pakistan and Denmark has surged by 31% in FY 2024-25, reaching a total trade volume of $285.99 million. Pakistan’s exports to Denmark have grown by 27% to $207.40 million, while imports from Denmark have risen by 42% to $78.59 million.

Denmark continues to play a role in supporting Pakistan’s deeper economic collaboration with the European Union, contributing to the growth of trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.
A prime example of Denmark’s commitment to sustainability is the Danish Energy Transition Initiative (DETI), launched in 2021. Under this collaboration, Danish experts have conducted workshops and study tours focused on energy efficiency, long-term energy planning, and the green energy transition.
The initiative, extended until 2025, has already hosted two successful missions in 2025, reinforcing Denmark’s dedication to helping Pakistan achieve its sustainable development goals and transition to green energy.

The growing partnership between Pakistan and Denmark is paving the way for a more sustainable and prosperous future. From renewable energy to agricultural modernization and trade, both nations are committed to deepening their collaboration.
